Goodbye 2010, 2011, you're already smacking me.

2010 was one of the biggest, best, worst, and unforgettable years of my life.  I would have never expected so many good and bad things to happen, and I never thought I’d ever have another year anywhere close to it.  Being only the 7^th day of 2011, I’m already starting to think it’s going to be a close match to 2010…

In 2010 great things happened to me.  In April, I got a new job in the Biology department at the University of Utah and I also went to LA with my sister, Erin, to see a Taylor Swift concert…front row tickets and a fully paid flight and hotel room.  I had won this previously (November 2009) from my favorite radio station, KBULL 93.  It was so much fun to get out of town with just my best friend and sister, Erin.

I got engaged to my boyfriend of 4 years in May, which was both surprising and exciting. I started wedding planning which is both good and bad.  It’s fun, but really stressful and frustrating at the same time.

In August, I was accepted into the Elementary Education program at the University of Utah.  After a lot of preparation, the letter seemed to take forever to come in the mail.  Hence that coined term, "snail mail."

Another good thing that happened in 2010 was I found out my best friend is having a baby.  I’m so so so excited for her and I can’t wait to hopefully go through the experience with her. 

Now, as I’m writing this, I am struggling to think of the positive things that happened last year as the negative is looming in my mind.  In June 2010, I was awakened around 8 in the morning to the news that my brother had passed away in an accident early in the morning.  Since then, my world has completely changed.  And I really do mean completely.  I look at everything in a different way than I know I would have previously.  I think of him in every thought of every day, which is both comforting and makes me sad.  It makes me question a lot of my previous beliefs I have had set in my mind from a very young age.  

As 2011 is now in my mind and I’m hoping to never forget anything that happened to me last year, I am starting to prepare even more for my wedding, which will be in June!  I really cannot wait to start this new chapter in my life.  I am going to be Britney Hillier. Graduate college as Britney Hillier and be an elementary teacher as Mrs. Hillier.  I have always imagined being Mrs. Dahle...

It seems as though every week, I hear of someone else from high school getting engaged.  It really so is so crazy!  So far in my mind, my wedding is going to be the biggest thing of the year.  Or at least I’m hoping nothing too much bigger comes this way…

As I said previously, already it’s only 7 days into the new year and new big things are already happening!  Remember my best friend having a baby I mentioned above?  Well, I just got news from her about an hour ago that she found out this morning she is having TWINS!  I cannot believe it.  I will admit I have already asked if I could have one… no response back yet :)  So not only is that a big thing, but the actual event of my friend having her babies is going to be huge!  I am so excited for her and her husband. 

Congrats guys!  I love you both!
In the Fall, I am set to start my student teaching.  I am incredibly nervous for it, but maybe just a little excited about it at the same time ;)
